The social media world changes so much every day that it’s nearly impossible to keep up. That’s probably what keeps me interested in my career in social media marketing. I learn new things all the time and the frequent changes and updates keep me on my toes.
Here are my favorite social media highlights from the past week:
Remember that “Discover” feature on Snapchat that was all the hype in January? You know, the one you used to see when you accidentally swiped left a little too far. Well, a few weeks ago, Snapchat briefly removed it from the app promising to make it better. “Discover” is now relaunching with a minor update, which allows users to share snaps and videos from brand stories. Sharing is caring, right?
OK, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t giddy about this one. Foursquare just announced that mayorships are coming to Swarm soon. Now we can all go back to obsessively checking into every place we enter … as if we ever stopped.
Facebook’s Messenger is an ever-changing platform. I’m kind of just waiting to see what they do with it next since it’s some becoming some sort of mysterious standalone platform. Just last week Messenger launched video chat and more than 1 million calls were made … in the first two days. Seems like Facebook has got a grip on giving its users what they want.
If you use Pinterest for your marketing, you’ll jump for joy at this: Buffer now allows users to schedule pins! Unfortunately, it won’t be available to users of the free version of Buffer but this functionality may be worth the upgrade to awesome.
I’d love to hear from you! What’s your favorite recent social media happening?
