The weather is getting warmer and warmer, which means it’s time for shorts, tanks and flip flops. Or maybe those cute off-the-shoulder blouses everyone seems to be wearing these days. If you’re feeling a little self-conscious or not quite ready to don summer’s fashion trends, it’s not too late to hit the gym and tone up.
I was recently invited to Planet Fitness to work with a trainer on a program to tone my shoulders a.k.a. one of my favorite areas to work on.
Disclosure: I was invited for a free session to help promote Planet Fitness gyms & personal training. Opinions expressed are absolutely my own.
Shannon was the trainer I worked with at the East Colonial Planet Fitness location and here are some of the shoulder workouts she showed me. My shoulders were on fire by the time we were done!
Around the World
You’ll want to start off with light weights for this one. I used 5-pound dumbbells and did 10 reps.
Cable Lateral Raise
Find a comfortable weight on the cable lateral raise, making sure your arm rises to be parallel to the ground.
Cable Upright Row
Stand extra-straight and throw them ‘bows back for the upright row.
This one was new to me and the constant motion burned like crazy, which means it really works!
This one is so tough, you’ll forget your ABCs. I used a 10-pound plate and rushed through the 26 letters of the alphabet.
It’s safe to say that after a few sessions of these workouts, I’m ready for tanks!
