Being short on vacation time at work doesn’t have to mean you can’t get away every once in a while! Living in Orlando – the most-visited destination in the US – we don’t have to go far to experience something new and incredible. Just think about it … we live where everyone dreams about vacationing. Why not take advantage of it by planning the best staycation in Orlando?
If you’re a longtime Orlandoan, you may think you’ve seen it all, but I recently learned that there’s so much more than meets the eye to a lot of Orlando places we see from a distance regularly. In case you’re wondering, the gorgeous resort pictured below is the Hyatt Regency Orlando on International Drive by the Orange County Convention Center.
Stay Someplace New
When I plan a staycation, I try to experience a new place. I want to feel like I’m somewhere else, where my mind can drift off from my day-to-day routine. I enjoy exploring new places, so expansive resorts are especially fun.
Go for the Amenities/Activities
The more activities and amenities a hotel features, the better. Think: Dining, spa, pool, etc. Spa and pool are big ones for me – That’s what I call relaxation. When staycationing, I like to stay somewhere where I can do just that: stay. The accommodations you choose for your staycation should be so great that you don’t have to leave to do something fun. Less hassle = more relaxation.
Get Some Vitamin D
With a pool as appealing as this one, it’s hard to imagine not spending all day soaking up the sun. A poolside bar & grill, waterfall and a SLIDE make it even easier to spend most of your Orlando staycation at the Hyatt Regency Orlando’s outdoor tropical escape. Did I mention you can get personal service when you reserve a private cabana? I definitely recommend it.
Go All Out
Spoil yourself – you deserve it! During your staycation, invest in something that will make you feel special. Think: fancy dinner, room service, getting your hair did, shopping for a new outfit, a fancy bottle of Champagne. For me, it’s DEFINITELY a spa day. The Spa at the Hyatt Regency Orlando has quite the luxurious and relaxing experience. I opted for a relaxation massage and it was just what I needed before hanging by the pool for the afternoon. Not ready to go outside just yet? You can hang out at the spa’s whirlpool, robe room, or steam room as long as you like!
Break a Sweat
While exercise may not be the first thing on your mind when staycationing, it can be a fun time to try something new. The Hyatt Regency Orlando offers yoga classes, most of which are attended by first-time yogis. I’ve been to numerous yoga studios, but none of them have had the luxurious experience that the Hyatt offers. Our instructor Ann was excellent and professionally guided us through our practice. My favorite part? Being blanketed with a towel infused with lavender during savasana a.k.a. relaxation pose at the end of the yoga class.

@citywhit Staying in a hotel. If I stay at home, I'll see all the things I need to do and won't relax.
